Where Have I Been

or where I have been. I have been busy with some holiday knitting and then some holiday frogging and some more holiday knitting and some more holiday frogging.
Close Up
of
Holiday
Frogging.
Just because
I thought it was
a neat picture
and now it's gone....gone

Well all of this frogging was getting me absolutely no where fast! SO what is a girl to do?! Why surf the internets for one thing. Oh yes! That helps with the holiday knitting. Really it does!

Saturday afternoon finds me looking at this page at Holly Spring Homespun well by golly gee I just couldn't help myself. I was showered and in the car and buzzing up I95 before I came to my senses but by then it was too late .I had to have some of this yarn! It is a nice drive to Holly Spring made even nicer by the fact that 288 goes all the way to Rt.60 now so I was able to avoid all shopping areas. The 65mph didn't hurt either.

I had a wonderful time at Holly Spring. Kathy was working on her window display and it was shaping up nicely. I really like her shop alot! There are some closer but I like Kathy and what products she has to offer. My friend Lawre has a beautiful red and green knitting bag she made in the center of the window. I would have taken pictures but my camera was with dh.
I immediately sought out the yarn that had sent me out on this fine afternoon and I then procured the pattern to make Kathy's fingerless and fuzzy gloves mittens?. You see...I had decided that they might just work for the holiday knitting and maybe just maybe I won't have to keep frogging.

So far I am very close to finishing the first one. Just have to finish the thumb. This has been a pretty fast knit for me. I started LATE on Saturday night and got to knit for only a limitted time on Sunday. DS17 and I went to see RENT. How do some of you knit at the movies?!?! I can't even see well enough while the lights are still on!! oh. maybe it also has to do with butter on my fingers. I enjoyed the music and liked the fact that the music was loud and gave one the feeling of actually being at the stage version.

oh. I digress would you like to see my yarn and almost finished mit/glove? The seaworld hand dyed yarn is soft and wonderful to knit. I think I want more!! The Lily Chin Central Park...not so much fun. I don't like to knit with the fuzzy frou frou yarn. But there isn't a lot of it in this pattern and it makes for a nice look so I will deal with it. I sure hope my giftee will like these!

A modeled shot to come after they are done.
Guess I better see if I can finish off a thumb before I go to bed.
Night.

"Knitting Chocolate"

Sounds good enough to eat doesn't it? They are two things that I love and WHAT a combination they make. Well that is where I was today. Not knitting and eating chocolate but visiting the new Knitting Shop that is my ALYS ( Almost Local Yarn Shop). If you are in Virginia and near Emporia which is also near the Virginia/North Carolina line and if you are anywhere near I95 then you should check out this nice shop. This lovely lady has taken her ebay store live and opened a retail store in the small town of Emporia. She is still waiting for some stock to arrive but there is plenty to see. Actually today it was 5 of us from my knit group that went and when we first went in I was looking around and thinking "oh no we will be done here in 15 minutes" HA!! about TWO HOURS later we were done!! She is not packed with stock but what she is has is nice with a good selection and nice patterns. She has gone to the trouble to put yarns and patterns together so that a person can get some ideas and many of them are the free, widely dispersed patterns from the internet. It is very nice for those that may not have access to all that the internet has to offer. ...Good grief how awful that must be.... I need to take a picture of my great haul. I got yarn for a present and Cherry Tree Hill Jumbo Loop for a shawl for ME!! I also got yarns for a Christmas gift which I have started already! I think I have about FOUR projects on the needles right now if you don't count the WAVY scarf from last year that I can't find!

So.....here is a picture of what I have been doing tonight and the little surprise that I found last week in Roanoke while I was LYS shopping around. I think it sure is cute ( Shore is kewt ) I have been wanting one of these for some time now. OK.....I have to go to bed. I just typed a sentence with my eyes closed...no big deal. But it MADE NO SENSE.... I had typed " especially since I heard through the grapevine that there would be no more of them" I think I was referring to the black sheep but can't be sure......but I certainly NEVER heard that...LOL good night. Oh wait !! You want the picture ??? Ok

fWhew!! Made It

........
and with some time to spare. I finished the Gryffindor hat with a couple of days to spare before the opening of the movie yesterday. So I went from this.......

to this.

Please excuse the scary face. He was "hamming" it up a bit for the camera before heading off to school.

I am pleased to have finished this my first KAL and on time but I did cheat a bit as I originally planned to make the Weasley Sweater. Maybe if I get started Now I will be done by the time they are ready to open "Order of the Phoenix" Maybe.......

It's A Good Day

in late fall. Some of us managed to find our way to the lake this weekend. I think I missed the best of the fall foliage last weekend as there are not many leaves still on the trees. But it is good to be here. A bit chilly at night but we have 2 heaters that take care of that quite nicely.

Here is a picture of the lake in fall. Most of the boats have been pulled out but my favorite green sailboat is still there.

I FINALLY have some Harry Potter knitting in progress. I had originally wanted ( and still want) to make the Weasley Sweater but I had trouble finding the yarn. It looks like I will have to order the Rowan Felted Tweed online but I was hoping to find some in person so I could ..you know. feel it. and see just how it looks and what colors are flecked in the different colors. So in the interest of Christmas coming sooner than I think is possible and other knitting I decided to make a hat. The premier is less than a week away. DS 17 wants me take the 18th off and go with him and some friends to the premier. I don't know if I can get off but we will see. The hat will at least be finished. By tomorrow I hope. Here it is pictured on this sunny fall day. DS17 also found the perfect Gryffindor colored leaf. I couldn't resist adding it to the picture.

There was some knitting related shopping done on Saturday. Unfortunately there are no pictures as my camera battery has died. But I will say that one of my finds is said to be quite rare.

I hope tomorrow is pretty I need to take some pictures. I have some things to share.
